Hemsky fits the profile for what the Red Wings do in these situations. Edmonton no longer thinks he fits their plans, but no one argues his physical abilities: superb skater, great hands, excellent speed, good scorer and playmaker. Along the lines of other castoffs (Bertuzzi, Cleary . all the way to Jamie Macoun and Larry Murphy) there is evidence that the Wings could make this work. So, let's be honest, the chances of landing a big fish are minute at this point. There are dozens of buyers, few sellers. On the other hand, Hemsky, 28, is injury prone and considered ONE-DIMENSIONAL (no defense). It's what critics said about Bertuzzi and even Murphy (slow, old and soft). I'd say if the price is right and I can't speak to what it is then go for it. Hemsky's contract is done at the end of the year, so he'll be trying to show folks he has a lot left. One last thing: He's a RH shot and would/could be a huge help on the PP. So, I like it if the price is right. There's no commitment past this season. And, yes, he can break into one of the top two lines.
